Give your car that spring clean treatment

The days are getting longer, and the sky seems brighter. After a long – long – winter, spring is here and brings with it a sense of renewal. For many people, September fills us with the urge to re-emerge from hibernation and spruce up our lives with a bit spring cleaning.

When you think of spring cleaning, you probably imagine de-cluttering your closet, or scrubbing and dusting your home until it shines. But don’t forget to show your car some love, too.

With these handy tips, you can also have a pristine Nissan that sparkles in no time.

Wax on, wax off

You don’t have to be the Karate Kid to give your car a pro polish. A good old-fashion wash and wax in the most important thing to do once Winter is in the rear view mirror. The winter elements can cause all sorts of build-up through June to August that can affect your car’s paint and finish. You want to make sure things like grime and debris – and even salt – are long gone before spring takes hold, avoiding any serious damage.

Take care of your insides, too

Spring is the perfect time to give the interior a well-earned scrub. Throw out any clutter, remove any murky build-up, and when you’re cleaning dust from dashboards and vents, make sure you have a vacuum handy to suck up the dust as you go. Don’t forget the tricky little cracks and crevices though!

Take the pressure down

Tire pressure is important, but often forgotten. As springtime hits and the weather warms up, tire pressure can increase. If the pressure increases past the specified level (because you added air during the winter), it can seriously affect your car's drivability and fuel economy. If you’re unsure about tire pressure, you can always drop in and have it checked out by the good people at Brighton Nissan.

Wipe away the winter blues

With a dreary winter behind us, it’s a good time to check those well-used wiper blades for any signs of cracking, or wear. As a general rule, blades should be replaced at least twice a year to ensure effectiveness, and most importantly, safety.

Finally, why not complete your springtime reboot with a trip to your Brighton Nissan dealership for a good old fashioned service. With a spotless vehicle both inside and out, and a thorough check of the engine, wheel alignment, and suspension, you’ll be primed to hit the highway is comfort, safety, and style.
